Rapid Rebuild of Smoke & Fire Damaged Production Area Project
We received an urgent phone call from one of our blue-chip customers early one morning alerting us that they had unfortunately suffered a fire over night resulting in damage to a critical part of their production facility. “We think some elements may now be unsafe, How soon can you survey the damage” was the question. We dispatched a team and necessary plant straight away, at times like these it is a real advantage to directly employ our own project managers and tradesman, we have maximum control and flexibility both at the same time. Within a couple of hours the existing area was made safe allowing our customers team to gain access and assess the damage in more detail.
Our customer decided the damage as too severe to repair, the next question was “how quickly can you get hold of materials and re-build the area?”. Because we hold a stock of food grade insulated wall and ceiling panels/associated trim, stainless steel kerbing, resin flooring, refrigerant gas, in fact most items needed to build a food production area we were able to respond “we can start tomorrow”. A fast track time-line was put together by our projects manager incorporating 7 day working to minimise our customers potential down time.
Firstly existing electrical services had to be safely isolated and the existing fire damaged insulated composite ceiling and wall panels had to be removed and taken down in a controlled and safe manner. An independent ceiling suspension system was fitted before the new ceiling and wall panels were installed, ensuring if another fire occurred the ceiling would be independently supported not only allowing safe escape from the area, but also safe access for the emergency services. New LED lighting and doors were next to be fitted, quickly followed by a new hygienic Food-Crete™ resin floor, Food-Crete™ is the only specifically designed specialist polyurethane resin flooring system for the food and beverage industry.
This project is a prime example of why, unlike most other construction companies, our choice to employ our own teams of tradesman and projects managers is hugely beneficial.
