Minus 22 ℃ Freezer Project Complete with Motorised Moving Pallet Racking

One of our customers needed an innovative solution to their low temperature storage problem, they needed to store 700 plus pallets of frozen produce but only had the space for a freezer the of fraction of the size necessary at their present premises. This led them to investigate relocating their operation to larger premises, we also helped them to carry out a feasibility study looking at extending their current building, both these options were quickly rejected due to time restraints, logistical and financial limitations.

Our customer wanted to stay where they were but somehow also have the large freezer their business now demanded, this is when we hit upon the innovative solution to construct a new freezer within the current building incorporation motorised moving raking. The basic principle of this system is that you don’t have fixed fork lift truck aisles taking up unnecessary space that could be used for pallet storage racking. Instead the pallet racking moves together on fixed rails, when the fork lift truck needs to access a particular row of pallet racking, the pallet racking moves revealing an access aisle (click here for Video), An integrated safety system complete with sensors and beacons monitor and warn, safe guarding any operatives in the freezer though out the entire process eliminating any health and safety risks.

The new freezer was constructed from rebated and interlocking PIR cored hygienic grade insulated composite walls and ceilings, creating a large chamber with no air leakage. An insulated reinforce concrete floor was cast and power floated though out, complete with a twin element heater matt to safeguard against future frost heave and the motorised racking rails and associated services. Ceiling mounted freezer grade evaporators were installed and piped up to matching external condenser packs. The freezer refrigeration system was carefully designed by our in house design team utilising two separate systems, incorporating a state of the art monitoring and remote alarm notification system, safe guarding the stored produce against any future risks associated with a catastrophic event.
